Virtual Psychotherapy & Counselling

(she/her)

About My Work

Let’s decipher the psych jargon, shall we? My approach is:

Humanistic

  • I focus on you as a whole person to understand the meaning attached to your
experiences and how these affect you in the present day.

Psychodynamic

  • Sometimes our responses to the world are shaped by factors we may be unconcious
of. Simply bringing awareness to these processes can be transformative!

Integrative

  • I use different tools and techniques to help you on your journey, and sometimes I blend
approaches based on what I believe will be helpful. Your feedback and input is
important, so I like to check in with you often to make sure we’re on the same page.

Sessions are conversational. If you have something you need to say, I want to hear it!
When we’re down to the nitty-gritty, I might use

  • somatic work to connect the physical sensations you’re feeling to your thoughts or
    emotions,
  • parts work to separate and understand the different internal arguments
    overwhelming your brain,
  • inner child work to explore and attend to old traumas and wounds,
  • psychoeducation to explain how and why things might be the way they are, and
  • skill-building to provide you with tools and takeaways when needed.

There’s more, but this page is pretty wordy already.

About Me

I am a Registered Psychotherapist. I work closely with two supervisors as well as professional colleagues whom I regularly consult with.

I am neurodivergent. This can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For me, it means that I have lived experience with some common struggles that ND folks encounter. This might show up in our sessions as offering up skills that I have found helpful, being able to follow tangents, using a lot of analogies during discussions, or needing to occasionally pause so my mouth can catch up with my brain.

I have a background in anatomy and physiology and sometimes nerd out about topics like the human nervous system. If this isn’t your thing, we can come up with a “safe word” or something so I know when to tone it down.

I strive to be flexible in my approach. If something isn’t working for you, I want to know! Your sessions are about YOU, so let’s work together to meet your therapeutic goals.

I exclusively offer virtual or phone appointments. This means you can access me from anywhere in Ontario! Also, I live in Alberta so the commute would be atrocious.

Autism, ADHD, whatever makes you
unique... let’s talk about it!

Navigating Neurodivergence

It’s tough to be human these days,
and some of us start this game on
“hard mode.”

Cultural

Challenges

Areas of Focus

Communication issues, not feeling seen/heard/understood, support for abuse or abuse recovery (just to name a few).

Relationship

Issues

I work with many 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and those exploring their identities. All are welcome here!

Identity

Affirming

PTSD, c-PTSD, Big T, little t...
I’ve got you.

Trauma

Are you noticing repeating patterns and triggers in your workplace, friendships, or relationships?

Attachment
Wounds

If none of these apply to you but you might be interested in working together anyway, let’s have a chat!
